Kim Ford is a specialist Family Lawyer having been admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia in 1983.
After gaining experience in a general law practice, she joined Clayton Utz in 1984 with a view to specialising in Family Law and assisted in developing the Family Law practice of that firm. In the years since, Kim has worked as a partner of Barker Gosling where she headed and established that firm’s Family Law department before continuing her practice for 20 years as a Principal of specialist Family Law firm, McDonell Milne Toltz, and from 2017 as Principal of Ford Family Lawyers. In June 2022, Kim joined Nolan Lawyers as a Partner where she continues to practice today.
Kim has worked exclusively in Family Law over her 40 years of practice. She has held accreditation from the Law Society of New South Wales as a Family Law Specialist since 1994 and is a trained and experienced Collaborative Lawyer.
She has held the position of Adjunct Lecturer in the Masters of Applied Family Law course at the College of Law and has also lectured widely to professional and community groups on various aspects of Family Law.
Over her years of practice, Kim has gained a wealth of experience in all aspects of Family Law, including de facto and same sex relationships. In addition to the traditional areas of divorce, parenting and financial settlements, Kim advises on the preparation of Financial Agreements, complex corporate structures and has experience in international property and parenting matters.
Kim is passionate about Collaborative Practice and is committed to ensuring its continuing growth and development in New South Wales and across Australia. Having seen at close hand over many years the damage that is caused to families by protracted dispute and litigation, it is Kim’s aim to promote and encourage wherever possible the respectful and cooperative resolution of matters arising from relationship breakdown that Collaborative practice provides.
